Caulis sesqui- vel bipedalis, e basi prostrata interdom ad nodos .radicans erectus.
Radix dense n'brillosa. Folia radiccilia louge petiolata (cum petiolo spithameea et ul-
tra, majora fere Heraclei), adpresse pilosa, ternatisecta; foliolis longe petiolatis, ter-
minali tripartite, kteralibiis bipartitis, segmentis omnibus lobatis, lobis ultimis 1-2-
poUicaribus oblongis acutis inciso-serratis foliorum superiorum lineari-oblongis. floras
paniculati, diam. pollicaxes. Petals obovata, sepalis duplo longiora. Acltenia dia-
metro -poH., ovata, plano-compressa, margine acuta, intra marginem linea elevata
marginata, in stylum rectum compression sensim attennata.

Radix fibrosa. Caulis erectus, ramosus, 2-^-pedalis, cum petiolis pilis rufis ad-
presse hispidissimus. Folia radicalia 3-6-pollicaria (petiolis 6-12-poll.) adprssse
pilosa, 2-4-tim ternatisecta, segmentis plerumque petiolatis palmatim incisis, ultimis
cuneato-oblongis grosse dentatis rel inciso-serratis. Flores terminales, paniculati, f-
pollicares. Sepafa hirsuta. Achenia in capitulum oblongum -f- pollicem longum con-
gests costis kteralibus valde promiuentibus, dorso fere truncata, tricostata.s

longe petiolata (petiolo 1-2-polL), diam. 2-4-lin., rotundata, basi cordata vel cuneata,
3-5-loba vel crenata, glabra. Pedunculi 1-fieri, oppositifoHi, strigoso-pilosi. Flores
(A P0?1' dwin.) miimti, flavi. Sepala ovalia, reflexa*. Petafa vix m^jora, obovata.

Dr. Wight bas identified the Nilghiri plant with that of Ceylon, and applies to both
the name of & finnatus, Poiret, founded on a plant said to occur in Ceylon and
